About Lavender Garden Flowers
Hello, my name is Gillian and I own Lavender Garden Flowers. My passion for flowers began when I left school and got an apprenticeship with a florist. I soon learned I had a real flair for creative floristry and decided this was the direction I wanted my career to go in. I studied hard and achieved various floristry qualifications including City & Guilds levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 and then finally a Diploma with distinction. To be able to offer a fully comprehensive service I also gained in-house qualifications with Interflora Relay Service.
After studying so hard I decided it was time to widen my experience and I began demonstration work for local organisations in Sheffield and regional Interflora Monthly Meetings. Through this I gained a wealth of experience in creative floristry, but I still wanted to learn more. I travelled to Holland to learn from the masters of the flower industry and attended a floristry course in Amsterdam.
By this time I was 21 years and decided it was time to be self-employed and put all of my training and creative skills to good use. Best decision I have ever made. I still have a real passion for creating beautiful designs with flowers and plants and I love the freedom being self-employed gives me. My continuing fascination with floristry means I keep abreast of all the new trends and am always keen to learn new techniques.
What next … I'm very excited to announce I have now set up my floristry studio in Via Gellia Mill, Bonsall (visit by appointment only).
